An investor is someone who understands three things: interest, appreciation, and dividends. A good investor keeps his eyes on all three. The investor has capital invested by which he desires to have a big payoff. He knows there can be no reward without a risk; therefore, to receive the prize, he makes the investment. He cannot be marred by apprehension and doubt but must be willing to invest with the expectation of a return.
The investor also realizes that it will take time to see and receive gains, but it doesn’t prevent him from making an investment. Similarly, the Marriage Covenant is not about holding back to see what will come of it. On the contrary, its deposits consist of devoting your emotions, time, and energy toward success. Remember, If your marriage will thrive, you must be all in.
Whatever type of investment that you make will influence either the progress or decline of your relationship. Therefore, make healthy and loving deposits into one another. Share godly and wholesome conversations, compliments, smiles, laughs, and tender moments. Do this with purpose and make it your aim every day. Those are good investments toward relational growth.
Don’t think that fulfillment in marriage should happen because you are in love or share faith in Christ. It takes giving your marriage the nourishment that it needs and staying away from unhealthy words or emotions that can cause depreciation in your happiness.
Take the approach of an investor by looking at both the short and long run. The investor understands there will be fluctuations but remains committed to his investment. Your daily love investments not only bring an increase in your lives together but also serve as a foundation for your future.
Don’t waste your precious moments with petty indifferences, but rather give yourselves over to investing wisely into the time that you have together. If you set yourselves on making loving deposits into your relationship, your emotional net worth will soar, and you will experience growth in your marriage for many years to come.
